Mukilteo Youth Advisory Council
The Mukilteo Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is an official body established by the Mukilteo City Council, serving as a direct liaison between the youth of Mukilteo and local government. Made up of residents between the ages of 14 and 18 and appointed by the Mayor, MYAC makes policy recommendations, organizes community events, and works to get more young people engaged in civic life.
I serve as a Social Chair and finance lead, responsible for helping to coordinate and finance community engagement events. I manage the committee's finances and ensuring every initiative is thoughtfully budgeted. Being part of MYAC has reinforced my belief that young people have a real role to play in shaping the communities they grow up in, and it's a responsibility I don't take lightly.
Assistant Golf Coach — Passing the Game Forward, One Swing at a Time
I have been volunteering as an assistant golf coach at Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo, Washington since my sophomore year. I work alongside my longtime friend and coach PGA professional, Tim Ressa. Harbour Pointe is more than a golf course to me. It's where I learned that golf has the power to teach you how to face challenges. And grow discipline, patience, optimism and confidence in ways that go far beyond the fairway.
I work with kids ranging from 7 years old through middle school, an age group where first impressions of a sport can last a lifetime. My biggest focus isn't technique or numbers on a scorecard, it's making sure every kid walks off that course with a smile and wants to come back for more. If I can plant a genuine love for the game in a child early enough, everything else follows naturally. Everything follows love.
One of the most rewarding parts of this role has been to take young players out on the actual course and play alongside them. It sounds simple, but it's anything but. Golf courses have a pace to maintain, and keeping young, enthusiastic kids moving while making sure they're having fun without feeling rushed or overwhelmed, takes a great deal of patience, and thoughtful ingenuity. Every round is a balancing act between teaching the etiquette of the game and making sure the experience feels joyful and not stressful. But I value the time I spend on the course with these kids even more than the time I spend working on my own game, because I genuinely believe that showing up for someone who is just starting out matters way more than becoming a better golfer myself.
Growing up, I had coaches who believed in me and invested their time in my development. I would not be the person I am today, if they had not done this for me. Volunteering alongside Coach Tim is my way of paying that forward. Golf has given me so much. It's given me focus, resilience, and a community I'm proud to be part of. I want the next generation to have that same experience and discover for themselves what this game can do for them, on and off the course.

Investing in the future
Sound Vista is a mobile home park in Washington. It's a no-frills community of hardworking families who deserve to feel just as proud of their home as anyone else. As an assistant manager of the park, I saw an opportunity to give something back to the people who make this community what it is.
Behind every door at Sound Vista are real families, real neighbors, and real kids with big dreams. Sound Vista Kids was born from a belief that every community, regardless of its size or income level, deserves to have traditions, to celebrate its people, and to feel a genuine sense of belonging.
I started with the kids because children are the heart of any neighborhood. By celebrating their creativity, their dreams, and their voices, I wanted to give every family a reason to feel proud of where they live and invested in the people around them. No competition, no pressure, just every child getting their own dedicated feature page on the community website and a small thank-you gift as a token of appreciation from management to the families who call Sound Vista home.
What started as an idea has grown into an annual tradition, a recurring celebration that the Sound Vista community can look forward to every year. Sound Vista Kids is about more than the kids. It's about dignity, pride, and proving that belonging isn't determined by your zip code or the size of your home.
Connecting Tenants to Rent Assistance Resources
One of the ways I serve the residents of the mobile home communities I manage, is by helping them understand and access rental assistance programs when they’re struggling with payments. I created an information page on our community website that explains the main programs, who qualifies, and how to apply in clear, simple language. When tenants fall behind on rent, I reach out directly to let them know that I am here to help and work with them, and that I will try to do everything I can so we can figure it out together. A lot of times, I've found all that's needed, is to just help residents get connected to the right resources, and to let them know they're not facing this alone.
United Way of King County — Tax Intake Volunteer
Taxes can be complicated, and they affect everyone’s life.
I started learning about taxes when I was in middle school. Around that time, my parents began showing me what was involved in preparing their taxes. Even though I’ve always been good with numbers, I was surprised how with taxes, such a simple idea could be so complicated, especially for small businesses. But helping my parents with their taxes, gave me the opportunity to learn about the importance of good accounting, recordkeeping, and tax strategy in running a business. I also got a chance to shadow my parent’s accountant. I learned to appreciate how good accounting can help to give a clearer picture of what is happening in a business.
Volunteering at the United Way of King County, Hopelink location as a tax intake preparer, gave me the chance to further apply what I learned in multiple real-world scenarios and be a real benefit to others in this potentially very complicated part of everyone’s life.
